Casual Romance Club is a bishoujo hentai game released in the year 2003. It was developed by the company Libido and is one of the handful of games that were produced bilingually in order for it not to have to be licensed and translated for release by an American company. The game can be installed and played in either language straight out of the original Japanese box. Both game text and voices were included in English and Japanese on the original disc, the original Japanese title for the game is 'Houkago Ren'ai Club' which translates directly to After School Romance Club and was released in 1997. The game is only supplied on DVD-ROM due to the size of the game, graphics and translation. There is also no uncensored version available which means that all sex scenes contain mosaics which will blur out all obscene content in the scene. The Japanese retail price for the game is around 8800yen, most importers sell it for around $50. The game requires at least Windows 98/Windows ME/Windows 2000/Windows XP; a Pentium 266mhz or higher, DVD drive, 128mb of RAM or better and a soundcar.
You play as the protagonist, a handsome teenage boy, suddenly and without reason you are hit with love and you seen start forming relationships with each of the twelve girls who are involved in his life. They have created the Casual Reomance Club in order for people to feel casual and relaxed while dating, and now that you can join you can start making your choices on which girls you would like to start getting to know better. Once you have established a good relationship, you can start to take it to the next level with the girl that you have chosen, checking on the others with your diary which contains profiles of each of the girls and insights into their lives thanks to you being able to read their personal daily diary.
Nanase Horikawa - She is very outgoing and loves to be active, she also has a massive crush on the protagonist (you). Nanase enjoys cooking and wishes that one day she can cook for you as a wife and take care of you in every other way as well as that, her birthday is the 11th of April which means that she is an Aries. In the English version of the game her name is Amy O'Counor.
Sanae Orihara - Sanae is the kind of girl that every guy wishes he can be with - she is kind, beautiful, smart and she loves to play sport as well. She enjoys playing tennis and tending to every garden in sight, she also thinks that being in love with someone is more important that being loved by someone. In the English version her name is Charlotte Lewis and her birthday is the 16th of March making her a Pisces.
Hinako Kawai - This girl is very kind and loving, but she is not the sharpest tool in the box. She has a younger brother who is very dependant on her, and she is looking for someone that she can depend on herself. She also likes shopping, but only because she gets to look through the catalogues. In the English version her name is Jeannie Hamill and she was born on the 7th of July which means that she is a Cancer.
Kanami Nitoh - Kanami is a kogal (similar, although not the same, to the Ganguro fashion trend) which means that she is very into fashion and looking her best at all times. Due to her appearance and attitude she is always being approached by guys who want to be her boyfriend, but suprisingly she is still single and is looking for the right guy for her. In the English version her name is Clare Radick and she was born on October the 8th making her a Libra.
Kazumi Shindoh - Kazumi is your best friend and she is always making jokes and teasing you. You have a lot of fun with her and she is beautiful, smart and full of life - the only problem is that she sees you only as a friend. You have the oppurtunity to change that with this tomboy who loves to shoot hoops and sing her favourite songs down at the bar. In the English version her name is Kate Gibson and her date of birth is the 14th of December making her a Sagittarius.
Mutsumi Horikawa - She is the sister of Nanase (Amy) but she is the polar opposite of her sister. She wears glasses and is very plain, she likes to study and prepare for her future which has meant that she has a very serious attitude towards love and believes it is something that you have to work on long-term. In the English version she is namd Sidney O'Conour and she was born on May 10th which makes her a Taurus.
Rinko Yusa - The school idol has many secrets, she has amazing looks and was brought up well which has resulted in her being spoiled and not having much free time. She doesn't have much of a social life mainly due to her secrets and she wants to grow up to be like her mother, she also has a passion for fish. In English her name is Caitlin Prichard and she was born on November the 11th making her a Scorpio.
Shiina Misaki - This girl is very flexible as she spends hours at a time in the gym working hard so that one day she can become a famous gymnast and even compete in competitions for her country. She is very welcoming towards romance but is wary of guys who try things on her too fast, and she believes in waiting for the right man. In the translation her name is Bridget Collins and she was born on the 1st of September making her a Virgo.
Mizuho Yamashina - She is the elegant girl-next-door and even goes to university. She wants to become a teacher because she thinks that the future is very important for every body. This girl looks very mature and sexy, she is also sophisticated and believes emotional love should come before any physical love at all. In the English version her name is Sophie Reynolds and she was born on January 15th making her a Capricorn.
Anna Wakatsuki - This girl is a little small but inside she feels a lot older than she actually is, or at least that is how she wants other people to see her. She wants a dramatic relationshp full of passion like she sees in movies and things, but doesn't know what the world is really like. In the English translation her name is Amanda Duset and her birthday is August 1st making her a Leo.
Ayumu Inaba - This girl is the creator of her own band and she sees the Casual Romance Club as a way to recruit members in order to join her. Some people think she is strange because she values being unique and loves being her own individual. In the English version of the game her name is Paige McConley and she was born on the 17th of February with her star sign being Aquarius.
Misao Sonozaki - This girl is a waitress at the 'Starry Sky' restuarant and loves to go out and enjoy herself because she is a fun loving girl without care and that is why she can't wait to find a guy who appreciates her for what she is. In the English version her name is Valerie Jones and her birthday is June 19th which means that she is a Gemini.
If you would like to see every picture of each girl that is entered into their diaries without having to play through the game then you can download a file created especially to do this from sagaoz.sakura.ne.jp/savedata/ka/06ka.htm and load it into the game which should fully unlock all of the pictures avaiable for each girtls. Some language problems may exist due to them being created originally in Japanese.
The game was turned into a two part hentai anime OAV by the production company Pink Pineapple. The hentai featured all of the characters but was released in Japanese only and has never been licensed by any US companies for release. No fansubs of the anime have ever been released, although some may be in existance.
The game requires at least DirectX v5.0 to run and the setup file for installing the game is sometimes recognised as 'dxsetup' by Windows, instead of it's correct name which is dxsetup.exe.
