Information

Gantz was started in Young Jump in the Summer of the year 2000 by Hiroya Oku. His previous works had been serialized with the magazine, including HEN (Strange Love) which is why he chose Young Jump for his latest series. There is currently nineteen volumes of the manga (topping 226 chapters) and it is still being serialized every week. The manga has also been turned into a thirteen episode anime series, which was followed by a sequel known as the Second Stage which was an additional thirteen episodes. The seasons go together to make a twenty-six episode series telling a percentage of what the manga has so far. ADV Films have licensed the anime for North America and it has also been licensed for release in Australia.

Premise

His old friend got down on the tracks to help and called up for Kurono to help him, without realising it Kurono was down there within moments and they were both facing certain death. Suddenly they are both transferred into a semi-posthumous game in which no-one really understands, who knows what will happen next...

Notes

Konami, the publishers of such games as Metal Gear Solid, released a video game based on the manga for the Playstation 2 in Early 2005. The title was Gantz: The Game and it was rated as a restricted 18 due to it's highly violent and graphic content, the game has never been released in English and there are currently no plans to bring out a translated version.
